Green Rater Training
Potential Green Raters:
E3 Building Sciences has been selected by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) as a Provider for its LEED for Homes Program. As a Provider we are charged with the promotion of Green Building and the marketing of the LEED for Homes Program. E3 is also responsible for the training and oversight of Green Raters. In response to our training and oversight responsibilities, E3 has developed a “Go-to-Market Strategy” and a Green Rater Training Course.
Our “Go-to-Market Strategy” incorporates three main areas of interest for Green Raters:
- Green Rater Independence: Green Raters can choose to be independent Raters (not working for E3). Green Raters (GRs) must be able to market themselves as well as the process in order to make a living. Independence will also allow GRs to specialize or generalize as they see fit.
- Green Rater Support: In addition to initial training E3 will provide a number of services including: building science consulting, energy modeling, field verification, blower door tests, and etc…
- Green Rater Pricing: Green Raters will be able to set their own prices to their clients. Therefore GRs will be able to control billing and payment options.
Our Green Rater Training Course focuses on two principals:
- LEED Consultation: A Green Rater must have knowledge of and be able to discuss, the “greening” of a project. Project teams will look to the GR when trying to understand how to make their projects “Green.” The course will provide fundamental knowledge of “Green Building Concepts” with respect to the LEED for Homes Rating System.
- LEED Process: Green Raters must be able to move projects along as they reach for LEED Certification. Any project seeking LEED for Homes Certification must not be delayed due to the certification. The course shall provide GRs with sufficient process knowledge so that the project moves along without delay.
According to McGraw-Hill, the Green Building Industry will triple within the next five years. E3 Building Sciences endeavors to be a driver of Green Building Industry growth. We hope you would join us in our endeavor and become a Green Rater and promoter of Green Building.
